Bottleneck John (SWE)

– Bottleneck John

“…It doesn’t matter what corner of the planet the artist comes from, you either have a blues soul or you don’t. This man has one in spades!” – Greg Szalony, Blues Blast Magazine, USA.

Bottleneck John plays old and traditional blues, that has its roots deeply in the 20th century Mississippi. His music is intense, raw and fast-paced, but also laidback and emotional.

His concerts are like a musical time trip with songs of legends such as Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Son House, Charley Patton, Bukka White, Blind Willie Johnson, as well as his own material in this traditional genre. He plays blues like it sounded long ago- just a voice and acoustic instruments, a foot pounding out the beat on the floor, replacing the drums.

Bottleneck John has been touring all over Europe in clubs and festivals for many years. He also travels in the United States performing among others in the classic King Biscuit Blues Festival.

”..It’s always something extraordinary to sing these early gospel blues melodies and lyrics in a church or chapel. Songs that are characterized by the hard work, toil and suffering people were forced to endure, but also by the warm empathy and true religion that led them to cope further. I play these songs a lot because they’re so important historically for the blues genre..” – Bottleneck John
